I live in Maleny, a small town in the Blackall Ranges on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast Hinterland. It is a beautiful part of the country – green rolling hills, dairy cattle and home to many artists. I started making bears in 1993 .While I make bears of all sizes I love to create bears under 15cm, my favourite size being 9-10cm. Recently I have started to go even smaller and have made a cute little fellow that stands at just 4cm. I love miniatures and one day would love to get involved in the miniature world but there are only so many hours in the day to do all the things I’d love to do.. I like to use mohair for my bears but also use upholstery velvets, cashmere and ultrasuede. I sew and knit the bears clothes, although my friend Judy Buist, an avid knitter does the more complicated and fancy pattern knitting. She likes a challenge! I also like to make gollies, which are a lot of fun to create. As well as making bears I have a small collection of old bears and I am particularly fond of English Chilterns. My interest in collecting old bears has also led to doing many repairs on well loved bears. I also enjoy quilting and watercolour painting.
