TBAAF - Purchase Directly From International Bear and Doll Artists

About Me

Living in beautiful Tasmania I have been making bears since 1994 work from a downstairs 'Bear Room' with a view of our garden and Mt. Wellington, which is visible from most areas of Hobart and its surroundings. I find the temperate climate of Tasmania keeps the creative juices flowing and I still enjoy every bear I make.

All Aerlinn Bears are made from the design stage to completion by myself.

I have won numerous Best in Category awards over the years, including Bear of Show at the Sydney Teddy Bear Fair in 2001, and Best in Category in 2002, 2003, 2004 & 2005.I am currently not trading at any Bear Fairs nor do I enter competitions any more, I am content to stay home creating Bears and the odd Elephant forever trying to make the perfect one.

I enjoy the challenge of miniature bears, mainly making bears 2.5" to 9", with the traditional bear being a favorite. It all depends on the suitable mohair's and mini bear fabrics that I can find to make the size and style of bears I’d like to create. The possibilities are endless making most of my bears one of a kind creations.

I sell most of these through my Etsy shop and e store.

My husband of 29 years is a chef extraordinaire , I have been blessed with two gorgeous sons Alistair and Mason , by far my best creations .

Hi Debora, I really cant complain at this end. Besides the bears which I work at every day I am taking turns with my husband teaching both our sons to drive.
Are you hit by the 'especially' cold weather in Colorado? We have escaped the actual floods here though not the damage to our beautiful Country. Australia day is celebrated tomorrow.

What gorgeous teddy bears you make!
I really love your miniature bears who, despite their small size, seem to be large and not l like babies, with a great personnality!

Thanks for your message Esther. I do happen to like succulents too and spiky cacti...we can only grow them indoors though or they get far too much water outdoors here in Britain!
We have friends living in Penguin which is about 4 hours from you and one of my bears lives in New South Wales Australia. Not been to Tas yet but it's on the must visit places list!

Hi Esther and Marianne - Gosh it is a long time since we last saw each other. You would think that impossible in Hobart. I keep busy with my sewing and also volunteer at the Red Cross Shop in Cat and Fiddle and Thursdays and Fridays and at the Royal Guide Dogs on Wednesday mornings. I enjoy being out and about.

What about you?

My son is 22 now and working but living at home. He's off to the US in July for a holiday. We're only going as far as Darwin this year but should be fun as we've not been there before.

Better go - this is turning into a book!

Greetings & Welcome to the TBAAF site. Sorry for the delay in the long overdue welcome. We hope you've enjoyed the time you have spent here. I can attest to the fact you make lovely bears....I have several of them. I am so pleased to have your teds in my hug. I have a few of your mother's bears as well. Wonderful !! It's been enjoyable reading about you, your family & of course your bear making. It sounds as if you live in a lovely area....I can understand how it can be inspiring. I live in the Mountains near Mt. St. Helens Washington. The wild life & the trees etc.....inspire my writings. While you explore the site....you might be interested in visiting the TBAAF Social Forum. There you will find Blogs, A Chat Room, Photo Albums....& so much more. Lots of teddy fun!! Hope to meet you there in chat one day. Have a lovely Day.
Bear Hugs....Maggie
