TBAAF - Purchase Directly From International Bear and Doll Artists

About Me

I am an Australian bear artist and have been designing and making bears since 1985. I established my business in 1995 and the unusual name of ‘Meg-el-les’ is a combination of my daughters’ names Megan and Ellen.I also design and produce over 40 bear making patterns and bear stitchery kits.

My bears are from 6" to 24" in size. They are very traditional with a "country style" to the finishing details.

My first attempt at bear making was in 1986 after completing a patchwork quilt making course whilst we lived in Sydney. In 1990 we returned home to Brisbane and discovered the delights of fur fabric from Gerry's Teddy and Craft Design.

I very quickly started designing my own bears as I wanted to make a 'really' traditional style bear and there were no commercial patterns available.  I then started to sell my own patterns and they were sold throught Australia at the major craft shows by Gerry's teddy and craft designs.

Each bear from Megelles is one of my original designs. My Collectable bears are mostly one of a kind or very small limited editions. I designs and make all the bears and their gorgeous outfits .

Hi Lisa, I am taking the class at the teddy tree in perth. The class is run by Jennie Boylan who owns the Teddy Tree. I will be doing my first class on the 24th of this month and have already bought my kit ready for action. I love collecting bears especially searching out new artists and seeing their work. I am still relatively new at collecting but have quite a large collection of bears. I cannot wait to do the class and everbody I have spoken to says I will be instantly addicted so I really hope so as I am so excited about it. At the moment I am dreaming about what type of bears I want to make. How long have you been making bears for and when you started did you know anything about making bears or where you completely new at it. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks Jennifer

Hi Lisa, thanks for adding me as a friend. I am still pretty new at this but it is great to communicate with other bear lovers. I am currently just a bear collector but will be attending my very first workshop in a couple of weeks and trust me I cannot wait to give it a go. Take care and talk soon. Jen

Hi Lisa! I'm working on a few competition entries at the moment. There is a whole bunch of comps going on in the middle of the year and I am trying to get stuff done early. I will take a picture of my bear when I get home from work today for you. :)

Hugs
Therese
